After finishing the conducting school in Slovenia he completed Master study for conducting at Conservatorium Maastricht (Netherland) in class of prof. Jan Cober. As his assistant he worked with European Union Youth Wind Orchestra and University Orchestra Maastricht – Tilburg. He took masterclasses with Mark Laycock and Yves Segers.
He conducted Prague Philharmonie and led professional orchestras in Luxembourg, Germany, Croatia and Slovenia. Among others he conducted an amazing Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides. Strong influence on him made a cooperation with Koninklijke Harmonie Saint Cécile Eijsden and Simon Bolivar Symphonic Band. He led Symphonic Orchestra JSO, The Lions Chamber Orchestra and is guest Conductor of the Slovenian Police Orchestra. In the Season 2024/ 25 he will conduct the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra.
He is the principal conductor of the Salzburg Wind Orchestra (Salzburger Landesblasorchester), Wind Orchestra of Ironworkers Ravne (Pihalni orkester Železarjev Ravne) and Wind Orchestra Loibach (JTK Loibach).
As Conductor he apeared at festivals such as the Fest zur Salzburger Festspiele, Festival Lent, Festival Ljubljana, Innsbrucker Promenadenkonzerte, Imago Sloveniae…. He won several prizes at National and at International Competitions, among others few times in the highest Division at WMC Kerkrade.
Born 1977 in Maribor, Slovenia, has as Clarinetist finished the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. He improved himself with Prof. Kalmen Opperman in New York and was invited by L´Academie musicale de Villecroze (France) to work with Paul Meyer and Michel Portal. He took part in master courses led by Richard Stoltzman, Antony Pay, Alois Brandhofer, Martin Spangenberg and Jacques Di Donato. He won several first prizes at the Slovenian and International Music Competitions.
For more than twenty years he is member of the Clavimerata. Group published four CD´s and received the highest Slovenian student award, the Prešeren Prize. For several years he played in the orchestra of Opera & Ballet in the Slovene National Theatre in Maribor and in the Symphonic Orchestra of the Maribor Philharmonic Society. He was a member of the European Opera Orchestra and member of various European Youth Orchestras. As soloist, member of orchestras and chamber ensembles he has cooperated with Kirill Petrenko, Nello Santi, Richard Tognetti, Henry Meyer, Radovan Vladkovič, Dimitrij Slobodeniouk, Ernst Kovacic ... and performed throughout Europe, Middle East, North Africa and North America.
For several years now he has been intensively preoccupied with symphonic wind music and has already transcribed a considerable number of works for symphonic wind orchestra and for various chamber groups. From 2019 he is transcribing classical pieces for renowned publisher Baton Music.

In 2024 came out in German Language the Book “Conduct or be Conducted” (Dirigieren oder Dirigiert werden).
The book explores how we long in the world of music for sensitive relationships between conductor and orchestral musicians. It offers you various tools that both sides can use, shows how unconscious communication processes can create a harmonious working environment and how this can be used to find a way to overcome a wide variety of challenges. Open and healthier relationships can only be built if we can free ourselves from inhibiting behavior patterns.
With his wife Tatjana he opened in Loibach (Austria) the Studio of Art Kovacic, where you can visit concerts, exhibitions, presentations of books and masterclasses for young musicians and painters.
